STATE WINNERS IN THE VETERINARY SCIENCE CAREER DEVELOPMENT EVENT RECOGNIZED AT THE 98th GEORGIA FFA STATE CONVENTION

MACON, Ga. – Winners of the Veterinary Science Career Development Event (CDE) were recognized at the 98th Georgia FFA State Convention held at the Macon Centreplex on April 22-25, 2026. 

In the senior division, Anniston Batchelor of Veterans was the high-scoring individual, followed by Grant Garman of Camden County and Marlii Swartwood of Veterans placing second and third respectively. The senior team state winner was Veterans, followed by Wheeler in second place and White County in third. 

The junior division high individual was Karina Hutchison of Denmark, followed by Anna Apinis of Denmark and Alisa Biondo from Denmark placing second and third respectively. The junior team state winner was Denmark, with second place going to Cambridge, and third place to White County. 

CDE and LDE awards are granted to FFA members and teams who have exhibited premier leadership, personal growth, and career success in a variety of competitions. The Veterinary Science CDE will test students’ knowledge and skills in various aspects of the Veterinary Science industry. The team event includes identification of equipment, parasites, and animal breeds, as well as a handling and restraining practicum, a clinical procedure practicum, and a written exam involving knowledge of the veterinary science field.

The Veterinary Science Career Development Event was sponsored by Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.
